Zion National Park’s 229 square miles preserve a variety of natural formations left from millions of years of erosion, including narrow canyons, rock monoliths, and arches. The park boasts trails for every age and ability level. One of the park’s more popular paths is the ¼-mile ascent to Weeping Rock, a set of hanging gardens created by water seeping through a sandstone overhang. Another popular trail is the Riverside Walk, a one-mile, paved trail that parallels the Virgin River to the mouth of the Zion Narrows. In addition to its trails, the park includes exhibits at its human history museum and visitor center. For a fun, educational experience, do not miss one of the ranger-led activities, including guided hikes and patio talks at the museum. Lodging at the Econo Lodge serves as a perfect springboard for day trips to Zion National Park.
The St. George Econo Lodge provides lodging near Zion National Park, but also near other natural wonders, including Snow Canyon State Park and Red Cliffs Recreation Area. These two smaller parks are a showcase of southern Utah’s famous red rock scenery. The St. George area is also home to nine golf courses and one unique theatrical experience – the Tuacahn Outdoor Amphitheater. Set amidst red rock bluffs near Snow Canyon, Tuacahn presents four Broadway-caliber musicals every year.
